Drifta 16s came up against competition leaders, Great Lakes Vikings on Saturday May 19 showcasing top class soccer from both teams. The first half Drifta went all out on the attack, with the Vikings keeping our defenders busy and despite the majority of the play being in our half, our defensive line of Jack, Tristyn, Isaac and Isaac, kept the Vikings from finding the net. An absolutely nailbiting first half, despite remaining scoreless.

Very determined Vikings started out strong in the second, peppering Josh in goals and unfortunately conceded two quick, unstoppable goals. Soon after Drifta returned fire with Aiden, Zeke and Kelly assisting Kayden and snuck the ball just out of their keepers reach. The Vikings retaliated scoring another goal, but Drifta were determined with solid passing to Aiden to take a long range shot at goals, to have it rebound off the keeper, Beau seized the opportunity and slotted the ball into the net. Tensions set in with the scores so close, but the Vikings snuck the final goal in just on the full time whistle.
Final score Vikings 4-2.
Josh had an outstanding game in goals saving countless attacks from their fast forwards, with the opposing team congratulating him on his performance.

Gloucester started to tire in the second, and with only one set of fresh legs on the bench, were feeling the strain up against the speedy Wingham forwards, giving defenders Mathew, Darren and Andrew plenty of action. Joel, Toby and Cadel worked tirelessly up front, but were unable to find a way into the net. Final score Wingham 8-0.
