What an amazing effort by the 7’s. The boys came out on top keeping all seven opposing teams scoreless! Also winning the grand final.
Riley Blanch and William were excellent defenders, while Eli never stopped attacking.Charlie was on fire with goal shooting and Jarrod scored two of the winning goals in the grand final. Justin received the best and fairest player of the day.
We would like to thank John Hughes for all the extra effort he puts in for the boys.
In the 9s, 10 teams from across the Mid North coast region fought out a great days football.
The Scorpion campaign started well with a terrific 1-0 win over the Axeman, a great effort from Alicia Edwards, Jessica Marchant and Thomas Coombe kept the Axeman scoreless. Bradley Higgins followed his winning goal in the first game with 3 further goals in the scorpions win over the Barracudas. Goal keeping from Matthew Woods and defensive efforts from Jali Wilson and Brodie Baker saw the Barracudas shut out.
The third game against the Strikers saw Jali unleash relentless pressure with backup from Brodie, Jessica and Bradley before Toby Warwick took an opportunity to open the scoring, Thomas followed with a further 2 goals to seal the game with a strong 3-0 win.
Our last game was against the group leaders and really pushed the team to the limits, Thomas and Alicia provided rock solid defence and with strong attacks from Matthew, Toby and Brodie the Scorpions almost snatched a victory, but alas, they fell 1-0 to the eventual competition winners the Raiders.
A wonderful effort from the entire team, now it's back to the training paddock in preparation for our trip to the Newcastle for the Aldi Miniroos Gala Day.
