Applications for funding through the Duralie Community Fund have until Friday, June 29 to apply.
In a media release from MidCoast Council, organisations delivering projects that will provide lasting benefit for the Stroud area are encouraged to apply for funding.
Grants of between $5000 and $50,000 are available.
Developer contributions from the Duralie coal mine are used to fund community projects and initiatives in the area in which the mine operates.
These funds are distributed through the Duralie Community Fund, administered by MidCoast Council.
Over the last decade, more than half a million dollars has been distributed through the Duralie Community Fund, to support the delivery of 49 projects for the community.
These projects have ranged from enhancements and upgrades to community buildings and facilities, to signage and the purchase of equipment for schools and community groups.
“The funding for community capacity-building projects for Stroud has been a very valuable boost to the town over the years,” MidCoast Council community spaces and services director, Paul De Szell, said.
“This is an opportunity for community groups to implement further projects in the Stroud area and we're looking forward to seeing the benefits for the Stroud community,” Mr De Szell said.
Information on the Duralie Community Fund and this year’s application round can be found at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/grants or by emailing community@midcoast.nsw.gov.au.

Duralie is located in the southern part of the Gloucester basin, 20 kilometres south of Stratford mine, and north of Stroud.
In the project area the basin is approximately four kilometres wide.
The deposit consists of two target seams, the Weismantel Coal Seam and the Clareval Seam.
Duralie is an open cut mining operation which started in March 2003 and is owner operated by Yancoal.
It produces a high fluidity coking coal
The seam thickness is consistent at between 10 to 12 metres and is split into four main plies varying in average thickness from 0.8 to 7.5m.
To optimise the recovery of coal and improve project economics, Duralie coal is blended with other raw coal and washed to produce low ash coking coal and a higher ash thermal coal.
