Barrington Tops had a major snowfall yesterday (Monday June 18) with a good coverage between Dingo Gate through to Honeysuckle, around to Tomalla.

There is approximately 15 centimetres of snow at Polblue, 5 cm at the Dingo Gate and 10cm at Devils Hole.
Predicted weather conditions indicate snow is likely to fall during the morning and begin melting later in the day, as things warm up.

Visitors to Barrington Tops should be prepared for rapidly changing extreme weather including rain, wind and sub-zero temperatures.
If you get stuck or are involved in an accident, help may be several hours away. Always pack additional warm clothing and extra food and water and always tell someone where you are going and when you’ll be back.
Barrington Tops Forest Road (Gloucester to Scone) currently remains open to four-wheel drives only. Motorists should exercise extreme caution as the narrow, unsealed road is slippery. Tubrabucca Road currently remains four-wheel drives only. Motorists should exercise extreme caution as the narrow, unsealed road is slippery particularly in the steep sections. Tomalla Road also remains four-wheel drives only. Motorists should exercise extreme caution as the road is narrow, very steep, unsealed and is very slippery in parts.
NSW Police may close the road at any time to ensure visitor safety. This may prevent access to snow covered areas and result in visitors having to turn back after long periods of travel. Check road closures and conditions before you leave Gloucester or Scone.

Be prepared:
Leave the two-wheel-drive at home - four-wheel-drives are best suited for driving in snow and ice conditions
Check weather and road conditions before you leave home and again before you leave Scone or Gloucester
Leave plenty of time for the return trip in daylight hours: travel time is up to 1.5 hours from Gloucester or Scone
Pack additional warm clothing and extra food and water
Tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back.
Annual winter closure of four-wheel drive trails
Four-wheel drive trails on Barrington Tops will be closed to all vehicles from June 1 until October 1 for annual seasonal closure.
The closed trails are:
- Barrington trail (south and central)
- Paddys Ridge trail
- Butchers Swamp trail
- Bullock Brush trail
- Tugalow trail
- Thunderbolts trail
Trail closures mean there is no vehicle access to the following campgrounds during this period:
- Little Murray
- Junction Pools
- Gummi Falls
