Andrew Jackson worked tirelessly in defence alongside Sam Mundy and Matthew Trudgeon, keeping the Lions at bay. Numerous shots by Joel and Tyler were unlucky not to hit the net, while tensions set in on the field as the Lions levelled the score late in the second half.

The next game for Gloucester Soldiers Club men’s team is at home kicking off at 1pm on Saturday June 30 against top of the table Old Bar Barbarians.

A quick goal within minutes from kick off to Tuncurry Black set off the determined Drifta Camping & 4WD 16’s team on Saturday June 23 as Aiden Hawkins connected a corner ball from Hayden Reid and levelled the score for the remainder of the first half. Kayden Schumann and Zeke Llewellyn worked hard up front with some nice through balls from Lane Edwards and Cody Howard, despite being shut down from Blacks defensive line.

An early individual run and shot by Beau Blanch unfortunately hit the crossbar within the first few passes from second half’s kick off. Another fantastic game by Josh Anniwell this week saving numerous attempts as he put his body on the line again in goals, diving across the line to deflect the ball and also saved a superb one on one chip. After a quick rest, Kelly Groves returned to the field into the left wing position and found a breakaway, taking a shot but only to be shut down be their keeper, finding space again, Kelly’s shot this time found the back of the net with only minutes to full time.

Drifta’s next game is at home at home kicking off at 11.30am Saturday June 30 against Tinonee Eagles.

Accommodation Gloucester v Autolec Autolec were down two players and they had their work cut out for them. Hamish McClure came up against a barrage of goals and managed to save some of them in the first half. Tom Bandy and Ella Blamires tried hard but at the end of the game they were outdone. Audrey Holstein played exceptionally well in defence. James Terras, Dylan Schultz, Billy Dulihanty and Nicholas Edwards all scored goals. Well done to Zane Commons in goals and Emily Murray and Jack Yarnold playing in defence. Final score 12 – 0 to Accommodation Gloucester.

Gloucester BlueLight v Hunter Special Vehicles Paula Edwards, Baily Ballantyne and Dylan Green all shared position of goalie, they all did an amazing job. Harry Clarke and Baily scored BlueLights goals – Harry, 5 and Baily, 2. The team played well, always communicating, passing well and their defence was outstanding. A very exciting game to watch. Olivia Marsh, Jack Johnson and Simon Collins continue to excel. Hunter Special Vehicles Charles Tonks had a great game in goals. Josh Norrie scored 2 goals, Jacob Danton, Sam Ballantyne and Kaito Sutton, 1 goal each. Final score 7 – 5 to Gloucester BlueLight

Gloucester BlueLight (Green) v Autolec Gloucester (Dark Blue) The frosty air was enough to deter most, but the enthusiastic children were on the slippery wet ground, ready to play amidst the fog and mist. Both teams were on winning runs and this game was set to be a tight one. Blue have been working well as a team over the last few weeks but had their passing skills cut off by a determined Green team. Jake vs Jake was a constant cry, with both boys making it difficult for the other to score. Asher did well in goals for Green, not scared to throw his body on the line. Paige and Hudson (Blue) stopped Joseph multiple times in his run for the goal showing that great defence is the key to a good game. It was even possession and even goals throughout the game, making it a true nail-biter. Final score appropriate for the toughest game of the season, 3-3 draw.

Gloucester Farmers’ Markets (Yellow) v Gloucester/Barrington Pest Control (Maroon) The air was warming up for the second game of the day, with both teams fielding their full complement of players for the first time in a while. Yellow worked well together as a team, calling for each other and playing their positions with confidence. Emily worked hard for Maroon, with Joe pushing enthusiastically through the mid field. The Maggs family was cheering as both boys scored goals for Yellow, while Emily popped one for her team. The game was played in great spirit, with camaraderie being evident throughout the game. Final score 4-1 to Farmer’s Markets.

Gloucester Soldiers’ Club (Red) v Hunter Special Vehicles (White) The final game of the day was an exhibition in the power of the strong boot. Both teams had strong backlines, Hamish for Red and Jessie for White. The ball was passed well with strikers from both teams given multiple opportunities to score. Goalie defence was on show, with both Travis and Lucas throwing their bodies around. Nicholas had multiple attempts at goal for Red, constantly thwarted by the strong defence (or the goal post) of White. Lucas showed his outstanding skill with the boot, scoring from a distance with a beautiful curve ball. Everyone put their heart and soul into this game, with a few new faces showing some confidence and getting in and having a real go. Final score 5-2 to HSV.

Gloucester Dental v Ollies Service Centre: Gloucester Dental had a great game. All players showed great footwork and consistent ball contact. Ollies put their best ball skills on show – end to end Stuff ! Everyone had a great time. Well done to both teams.

Avon Valley Concreting v Darrels Gourmet Butchery: Avon Valley showed great passing and ball control to each other. Some awesome steals. Great effort Avon Valley Concreting. A great game for Darrels. Eli Soupidis played out of his skin while his sister Sammi was in everything! Zoe Kilby is getting more confident every week which is great. Hunter McKinley  played well and is stepping up and trying to load the team.  A great attitude from the team. Well done.

Bucketts Building Supplies v CalCo Surveyors: CalCo welcomed back Dane Laurie after an injury spell. A solid effort by all in both attack and defence. Bucketts Building opened with a great goal from Miller Ribbons, followed by a skilfully set up goal by William Coombe. Even with strong defence from Beau Laurie and Max Dellsperger, William landed another goal. A great goal attempt from Pharaoh Genoli. Great kicking from Josh Stanton and Kane Germon to clear the ball followed be another goal from William. Riley Edwards helped keep the pressure on with healthy attack from Hamish and Spencer Haschek, Sahara Genoli and Dane Laurie
