
Laser Electrical Beginners Day
On Saturday members and ladies played the annual beginners day sponsored proudly by Laser Electrical.
Thanks must go to Liz and Kev Townsend for there continued and valued support of this event.
The were two lots of winners on the day with the sponsors supporting both the ladies and the men on the day. The ladies winners on the day were E Murray, S Higgins, P Burrows and E Fraser with 67 nett and the R/Ups were B Ridgeway, L Townsend, S Cosser and A Kimerom with 72 nett. The men's winners were P Garland, S and G Williams and B McKechnie with 60 nett,on a countback, it was great to see Curly back on the golf course. R/Ups were the unlucky partners team of R and C Moore and G and M Marsh also with 60 nett. The prizes on the day went down to 8th place with everyone winning one, thanks once again to Liz and Kev. NTPs went to in A grade S Foot, B Grade to McManly, C Grade to B Newman, Ladies to E Murray and the 2nd shot very appropriately Dave Mann, still got it old fella. The 1st rnd of the Derro's matchplay must be finished by this Saturday so we can complete the event in time.
This weekend is the Monthly Stroke/Medal round and the following weekend is the prestigious Gloucester Ceramics 2 man ambrose event, please get your names on the timesheets.
Veterans
Last week, the Veterans played the first round of their Championships. It was the monthly stroke round, with the treasurers putting competition held in conjunction. The day was sponsored by Kev and Kim Arney. An excellent field of 25 starters enjoyed ideal golfing weather.
Winner on the day, and consequently, leading B Grade was Bruce Fraser. He beat Phil Hawkins on a count back, having both returned a score of 70 nett. Phil is the leader in C Grade. They were followed by Peter McIntyre and Bill Murray on 73 nett, then Roy Crichton on 74,(leading A Grade), Tony Berecry on 75 and Derek Bardwell on 77. The putting competition was won by Elaine Murry with an excellent 27 putts. Nearest the pins went to Cheryl Goodrich on the 4/13th and Roy Crichton on the 6/15th. Stayers award went to Jim Dunn.
Ladies
4BBB verses Par
Wednesday was the Qualifier or the WGNSW 4BBB Verses Par kindly sponsored by Nana’ Hardwares, thank you for you generous support. The winners of the day were Myrelle Fraser and Cheryl Goodrich with plus 4, Myrelle and Cheryl will now go on to represent our club at Harrington. Runners up were Annette Cravino and Gai Randall also with plus 4 missing out on a countback. NTP on 4th @13th Annette Cravino and 6th @ 15th Myrelle Fraser. Ball comp Pat Burrows and Margaret Dunn minus 2 and Moyà Harris and Rhonda Nightingale minus 3. Next weeks event is the Vets verses Ladies Challenge. It was another sad week for us this week when we had to farewell another of our valued lady members Shirley Sansom. Our deepest sympathy to Peter and the boys.
