Gloucester Country Club has received a brand new Australian flag after simply asking for one.
The addition to the club was officially presented by federal member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie during a visit to town on Thursday, July 5.
Gloucester Country Club members Peter Buettel, Bill Murray, Alison Windeyer, Bill Mansfield and Jan Walton accepted the flag from Dr Gillespie during a brief stop at the club.
Dr Gillespie welcomes clubs, schools, institutions and other local organisations which desire to have an Australian flag.
“The national flag is an important national symbol which, wherever flown, takes pride of place as a sign of our respect and appreciation for the great nation we live in,” he said.
“The Commonwealth continues to encourage community organisations and local institutions to fly the flag.
“Any school or non-profit organisations needing a new Australian, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander flag can contact my office, and I will be happy to arrange for one to be presented,” Dr Gillespie said.
Contact Dr Gillespie’s office in Taree at 144 Victoria Street, phone on 6557 8910 or request a flag via his website http://www.davidgillespie.com.au/request-australian-flag/
