On Thursday (July 19), the Gloucester Panthers men’s hockey team took on the Chatham Wolves J&T team on the new turf at the Taree hockey fields.
It was a chilly night but it didn't take long for the Gloucester team to get started. Mark Coombes received a pass from a Callum Howard lead.
Mark drew players along the baseline before getting a pass off back to Dave Keen ready and waiting on the dot. He was able to drag it around the keeper to score a goal.
The Panthers' passing game really started to pick up and the team was able to keep the ball moving around the opposition. Josh Howard was next to add points to the board after some great passing about the D, starting from his father, Brett Howard on the left wing.
Due to a late starting time, the second half was cut short but not before captain, Mark Coombes was able to pick up a cross and convert the teams third goal to finish the match up 3-0.
Next they take on the Taree Tigers and now with only a few games left before the finals, the Panthers are well placed to reach the semi-finals.
