The event, which has regularly taken place at Gloucester for more than 30 years, returns after a pause last year and being 'rained off' in 2016.
Some 15 glider pilots from around the State will be at the Gloucester Aero Club between August 4-12 to take advantage of the westerly winds which create ridge soaring conditions over the Mograni range of hills.
The event is organised by Central Coast Soaring Club.
It's renowned as one of the most enjoyable flying and social events in the NSW gliding calendar.
Pilots are always impressed by the friendly welcome their receive in the town and make a point of sampling the culinary offers of the local pubs and restaurants.
Ridge soaring is dependent on westerly winds blowing from the Barrington and Gloucester Tops over the Avon Valley and rising over the Bucketts and Mograni.
Pilots regularly soar the ridge for several hours or catch thermals and may climb to heights of 10,000 feet or more.
A range of gliders will be on show, including vintage and self-launching aircraft.
Visitors are welcome to the Gloucester Aero Club to inspect the aircraft, talk to the pilots or even take a flight with an experienced instructor.
Flying commences daily around midday subject to weather conditions.
