The last two rounds of the 2018 Stock Horse Challenge will be held at the Gloucester Showgrounds on Sunday August 5, with the event commencing at 9am.
These rounds consist of “dry work” in Hacking and Working Horse patterns , together with two runs over a modified campdraft course.
Former Gloucester resident Wyatt Young, now of Tamworth, holds a commanding lead in the Futurity section of the event after the completion of the preliminary rounds of two-handed cutting and “dry work” with the exciting young Conman stallion Nashville Nightman sitting on 340 points.
Young also holds second and fourth position with the well performed gelding Bullseye Banjo on 322 points and Cedervale Buttercup on 314 points, being split by Bruce Snape on TaraVale Dreamacre (316 points) in third position at this time.
Just behind the leaders heading into the final two rounds is Jordyn Snape with the chestnut gelding TaraVale Hot Shot.
In the Rookie section of the challenge, Tom Cavanagh and Rosebrook Maverick lead the way with 337 points, a 25 point lead over second placed Lisa Hawkins on Clairvale Destinys Choice, with Jaimee Vlastuin (Conomos Miss Charm) a further one point back.
Local competitors Fred Paterson and Olivia Gray are well placed just behind the Rookie leaders in 4th and 5th positions respectively, and will be trying to make up ground in their favoured campdraft discipline.
The Juvenile section leaderboard shows Emma Johnston in the lead with 283.5 points on Marshdale Stud BMW, and Cameron Dunlop a close 2nd with Ela Diamond Lady.
In the hotly contested Junior event Lillian Meredith (Orara Park Jolene) holds 152 points, a clear leader over a packed field of Georgia Maben (Silverthorn Oaks Chadelier) 136 points, Lachlan Corrigan 134, Bianca Turner 132 , and Brodie Meredith 115.
