AN auction of six cars designed to be driven in demolition derbies will highlight a Farmers Friends Drought Relief Concert and Family Fun Afternoon at Taree Showground this Sunday.
This will start at 12.30, with the auction expected to begin around 2pm.
All proceeds from the day will go to assist farmers battling the drought.
The six cars were donated by Taree Tilt Tray Towing and Manning Auto Salvage. All were write offs. The vehicles were restored to condition to contest a demolition derby by Chris, Blake and Stephen Taylor and Josh Penfold.
“People can buy them to drive in the demolition derby at the Taree Show next month if they want. Or they can use them for paddock bashing or whatever,’’ Chris Taylor, one of the organisers of Sunday’s program explained.
“If they want, we can organise a driver for them to take part in the demolition derby.’’
Entertainment will be provided by the Club Taree Community Concert Band, Michael Claire and Bob Berrigan’s Band.
The Taree Show will be held from October 5 to 7.
