A free workshop is being held by Australian Seabird Rescue in Forster to help locals learn how they can assist entangled or injured seabirds.
Attendees will hear about real life case studies from experienced rescuers, and learn about issues in our area.
"There are a number of threatened and endangered species that call our region home, and our local community can play an important role in being able to assist them in times of emergency," Hunter Local Land Services community engagement officer, Reegan Walker said.
"This one day course is a great way for Mid Coast residents to understand how they can help our seabirds and shorebirds, but also learn about the threats to their existence here.
"There are still places available and we encourage anyone with an interest in our coast and native species to sign up now."
