The organisation is the sole nomination for the Community Activity of the Year award following their tireless efforts in the ‘Need for Feed’ campaign.
The local branch was busy in 2018 raising funds and creating awareness for the nationwide campaign.
‘Need for Feed’ is a project of Lions Clubs Australia and since 2006 has provided drought, fire and flood relief.
The individual efforts of our local heroes will also be recognised at the ceremony.
The nominees in each category are:
Citizen of the Year
- Joan Harwood
- Jade-Marie Spencer
- Robert Tebbet
Young Citizen of the Year
- Liam Chester
- Andrew Hughes
Sportsperson of the Year
- Ethan Bird
- Tanai O’Brien
- Sarah Schiffmann
- Courtney Webeck
If you’re not in town for the ceremony, there’s plenty of opportunities to celebrate Australia Day in the region.
Civic ceremonies are planned for Taree (at Club Taree from 9am) and Forster (Club Forster from 11.30am).
Community organised events will be held in Wingham, Coomba Park, Hallidays Point, Old Bar, Harrington, Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest, Bulahdelah and North Arm Cove.
