2019 is certain to be another big year for MidCoast Council’s libraries, kicking off with a day of training and development to support our library staff in providing the best possible service for the community.
The annual development day is a great opportunity for teams across 11 library locations to come together and update their training and skills for the year ahead, and will require a one-day closure on Monday February 11 across all library sites.
In welcome news for library members, MidCoast Council libraries are undertaking a full integration of the MidCoast Library management system in March.
The integration will, for the first time, enable all library members to use one card to borrow items and return at any library branch and to search and reserve any items, from the extensive range of books, DVDs, audio books and a host of other resources, through one library catalogue.
The integration will take our library system offline and all branch libraries will be closed for an entire week from Monday, March 18 to Saturday, March 23.
“Whether you’re an avid reader, a music-lover, a film buff, a parent or carer helping a child to read, or even if you have a unique interest in something peculiar, our libraries have so much to offer everyone in the community,” MidCoast Council’s Manager, Libraries, Chris Jones said.
“Keep an eye out for a terrific program of activities and events coming up this year, starting in February with celebrations during Senior’s Week that includes movie screenings, smartphone workshops, interactive musical performances and more.”
