It was all part of the annual Manning Regional Catholic Primary School swimming carnival, which took place at Gloucester pool on Wednesday February 13.
The day began with dust was blowing over the Bucketts, before temperatures soared and skies cleared in the afternoon.
For the sixth time in a row, the event was hosted by St Joseph’s Primary School Gloucester, and once again, it not only attracted a large number of swimmers but spectators as well.
Five schools from around the Mid Coast region brought in their best swimmers to take part in the carnival which sends its top performers onto the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese Primary Swimming Carnival to be held in Newcastle on March 12.
Swimmers from St Joseph’s Primary School’s in Gloucester, Wingham, Taree and Bulahdelah, along with Holy Name Catholic Primary School Forster competed in 36 events from 50 metre freestyle to 50 metre butterfly.
Year 11 and 12 students from the Vocational Education Training (VET) Sport Coaching course at St Clare’s High School in Taree also came over to help out by timekeeping each race, with the their assistance counting toward the practical requirement for their course.
