Newcastle author Gregory Powell will be the guest speaker at the Mid Coast chapter's meeting on Tuesday, March 26 in Taree.
After spending 40 years compiling information, Gregory published his book Bushranger Tracks in 2016, which covers NSW and Victorian bushranging from the 1830’s-1930’s, including the adventures of Captain Thunderbolt.
Fellowship secretary Heather Bath said Greg was a guest speaker at the FFF Hunter chapter and the feedback was that his talk was excellent .
Also speaking at the meeting is Gloucester member Louise Stuart, who will be recounting her recent visit to Norfolk Island.
The meeting will take place at the Taree Presbyterian Church Hall, 76 Albert Street from 2pm - 4pm.
Members are encouraged to share any ideas for future guest speakers or group outings. If you would like to be a 10 minute speaker on your family or first fleeter at any of the meetings, it would be appreciated by the fellowship.
Some suggested outings so far are a tour of the gaol/museum at Trial Bay, South West Rocks; a trip up the Myall river on a ferry; a visit to Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest; a Gold Mine tour in cooler weather at Gloucester; a continuation on AA Co history with a visit at Tahlee where it began; a visit to Bulahdelah Court House Museum; and a tour by Kevin Carter of Port Macquarie Maritime Museum.
Suggestions are welcome via email at secretary@fffmidnorthcoast.com.au or at the next meeting.
