Last week, the Veterans played a stableford round for the John Barraclough Trophy. It was good to have John back for presentation.
Bruce Fraser continued his recent excellent form. He won the A grade trophy at the Tuncurry Vets Open day on Monday and followed that with a solid win at home on Tuesday. His score here was 39 points, there were three runners up on 34 points, Derek Bardwell, Jim Dunn and Tony Burnet. They were followed by Ian Maggs and Di Pritchard on 32 points. Nearest the pins went to Di Pritchard and Bill Murray on the 4/13th and to Derek Bardwell on 6/15.
Gloucester Ceramics Trophy Day
On Saturday members played a 2 man ambrose for trophies kindly by Steve Williams and Stacey Groves of Gloucester Ceramics. Thanks very much,as usual, to all the sponsors who continue to support our club. The winners on the day were Paul and Doug Blanch with 64 and the runners up were Steve Burns and Ben Veitch with 66. The ball comp went down to 67 on a countback. The NTPs were numerous , with Steve and Stacey putting a pin on every hole, the winners were S Burns, P Blanch, D Blanch, S Williams, P Bignell, B Veitch,P Wenham and M Howland. The long drive went to P Garland, lucky I was off the fairway Paul. This weekend is the annual Tom Blundell Memorial 4 man ambrose Day and the timesheet is nearly full so if you want to play get your 4 man team this week. The following week is the Derro's 2bbb day and the final day to get your 2 man team in for the annual Derro's 2bbb matchplay championship. The course is in great condition, thanks to Rossi and his merry band of helpers so come out and have a hit and enjoy our course. Yours in Golf The Shanker!!
Monthly Medal Stableford
Ladies Golf
Wednesday was the first round of the Monthly Medal which was sponsored by Lorna Taylor and Kay Holstein and it was great that they were both there at presentation. Gai Randall who hasn't played for about four months had a great round and won the day with 42 points, congratulations Gai I think you must have been practicing in your back yard. Runner up was Ev Blanch who also played well having 38 points. Ball Comp winners were Rhonda Nightingale 37 points, Effie Crawley 35 points and Myrelle Harris also having 35 points. NTP 4th@13th Myrelle Fraser and 6th@15th Division 1, Ev Blanch and Division 2 was Moyà Harris. No Division 3 player managed to get on the green. Nice to have Jill back from holidays. Next weeks event will be a Stableford sponsored by Pat Burrows.
