A pathway and ramp to the veranda have been installed, with a further ramp to the front door allowing access to the Museum for wheelchairs and walking aids.
To complete this project, the steps have been blocked off with the veranda balustrade to be raised and enclosed to meet occupational, health and safety requirements.
A big thank you to members of the Men's Shed who made the purpose built cabinet for the correct, safe storage of the extensive collection of historic maps held in the Archive Centre.
It is very much needed and appreciated.
A request for resources
In the Archive Centre there has been a number of enquiries from visitors about old school and class photos. We do have a limited collection and would love to be able to expand on this.
Over the years there have been many small schools in our district, with only Barrington and Stratford remaining.
If among your family treasures, you have any school photos which we could scan and return, we would be delighted, especially if they are named and dated. If not, they would still be gratefully received.
All (not only old) school photos are sought as they become part of our local education history.
Our photo archivist would be available to scan your photos while you wait if you have concerns about leaving them for a time for this process to occur.
This would be available most Mondays (the Museum is not open) by phoning of your intentions to take up this offer.
Otherwise they can be left with your name and number during normal Museum opening times which are: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am until 1.30pm, and Saturdays from 10am until 2pm, at 12 Church Street Gloucester.
