This is exactly what has happened to young Harriett and she's trying to find a way out.
Gloucester Arts and Cultural Council's (GACCI) May theatre production, 'Devil in the Detail', is a family-friendly comedy which tracks Harriett's journey in the afterlife.
"Harriett goes to Claude Deville to try to convince him to take her out of the sulphur mines," director Anne Keen said. "Devil in the Detail offers a funny, witty script with a colourful range of characters, and is very well suited to the GACCI Players."
The GACCI Players find their audience prefers a humorous production. They like to offer something a little more theatrical for the May performance, as opposed to the silly, farcical pantomime type of production held in November.
This community theatre group comprises strictly of volunteers, who not only donate their time for rehearsals but give countless hours of learning their lines.
"The dedication and commitment of everyone involved, from the actors to those behind the scenes is greatly appreciated. And we always get there in the end," Anne smiled.
This production welcomes newcomer, Emme Moulds playing Harriett, as well as returning players, Maureen Hjorth as Evelyn, Rod Burrow as Joe Ketchall, Dave Windred as William Green, Jim Bird as Claude Deville and Colleen Sorrensen as Mary Green.
There will be three performances held at the Gloucester Citizens Centre at 30 Hume Street - Friday evening, May 3 with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm show; Saturday matinee, May 4 with doors opening at 1pm for a 1.30pm show and Saturday evening with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm show. Tickets cost $20 per person for non-members, $15 per person for GACCI members and $10 for under 17 years and are on sale at Uptown Country at 23 Denison Street, Gloucester.
As with every GACCI performance, the audience is welcome to 'bring your own' nibbles and drinks. There will also be a coffee, tea and sweets for sale during the intermission.
