The boys keep rolling their way through the rounds after a bye in round one, followed by wins against Nabiac, Forster and Bulahdelah. The team has a break over the winter months before heading to Newcastle to take on the winner of Cardiff and New Lambton Public Schools.
The last win against Bulahdelah Central School earlier this month saw the team put in another quality performance.
Your team are a great group of boys and played a good game, and more importantly, fantastic sportsmanship.
- Bulahdelah team manager
Sent in to bat, the boys were in trouble early with a few of the top order batsman falling cheaply. Andrew Fraser steadied the ship with a measured innings until the drinks break, but Gloucester found it challenging to build early partnerships. With only 35 on the board at drinks, they needed to get going. After Andrew's dismissal, Lachlan Sansom and Jackson Moore came to the rescue, moving the runs along nicely. Jacob Edwards and Asher Baker also batted well, contributing runs to the total. Gloucester finished their 25 overs with a respectable 103 for the opposition to chase.
Wary of some handy cricketers in the Bulahdelah team, it was up to Gloucester's bowlers and the supporting fielders to perform. Once again, they certainly did. Rhys and Jackson opened the ends, with Jackson jagging one of their openers early. Nick Maggs came on taking a wicket with his first ball and another in the following over. Bulahdelah began to look rattled with the mounting pressure of tight bowling and runs hard to come by. Wickets began tumbling and the visitors limped to 5-28 at the halfway mark. After the break, Bulahdelah never threatened, with runs few and batsman simply holding up their ends. They lost their last wicket in the final over with 50 runs in the book.
The following message was sent through by the opposition team manager; "Your team are a great group of boys and played a good game, and more importantly, fantastic sportsmanship. They should be very proud of themselves and how they have represented their school. We wish you guys all the best in the next round."
The team's looking forward to its next match later this year.
