I have been totally overwhelmed by the number of well-wishes I have received on the celebration of reaching my centenary. From near and far, dozens of notes, letters and cards have arrived. The media coverage perhaps reminded people that I was still alive.
I would especially like to thank my sister Joan and family for liaising with the staff at The Stroud Community Lodge to organise the party. So many of you attended, which made it such a joyous occasion. It was heart-warming to see the bevy of young women taxi drivers who have continued my legacy. They ably assisted the Friends of Stroud Lodge who prepared and served the food and beverages.
I would need another 100 years to reply to you all personally. Please accept my heart-felt thanks.
