On a beautiful day for bowls last Wednesday, the ladies played the semi-finals of the Triples Championships.

Pat Cox, Del Buckton and Bev Germon defeated Bev Murray, Jean Holstein and Jan Jones (21-16) and Joan Ridgeway, Jill Everett and Judy Sheely defeated Margaret Andrews, Val Pritchard and Colleen Atkins (24-14).
Wednesday, the final will be played between Pat Cox's team and Joan Ridgeway's team. Two social games were also played today on the grass green, with Cheryl West using 'an arm' for the first time and Di Pritchard practising with a larger size bowl. It was a very relaxing morning with some enjoyable bowls being played.
Men's
A field of twenty six players contested Thursday bowls on the grass green with most matches resulting in large margins between teams.
Vic Hebblewhite, Jim Whittaker, Jim McIntosh gave Lu Urby, Clive Redman, Bob Jones a surprising flogging by 26-12, Kevin Everett, Alec Laurie, Robbie Bowden def Graham Turnbull, Peter Sansom, Col Beattie 27-13, John Andrews, Wayne Groves had luck on their side and def Tony Tersteeg, George Wisemantel 21-19, Mathew Higgins, Terry Davies, Terry Carson def Andrew Henderson, Phil Walls, Don Meileef 26-11 to take the runners up prize and winning the major prize on the day were Bob Charman, Mike Sheely def Kevin Burley, Chris Pritchard 26-10.
The quarter finals of the triples championships were contested on Sunday with Col Hebblewhite, Bruce Wilson, Dickie Baker proving to consistent for Nico Duynhoven, Terry Davies, Robbie Bowden winning 26-21, Jason Cassidy, Phil Walls, Bob Jones def Andrew Henderson, Gary Spokes, Peter Sansom 26-20, Mark, Phillip and Wayne Groves had a more comfortable victory over Kevin Everett, Mike Sheely, Neville Atkins 31-19 but the upset of the round was by super skip Vic Hebblewhite, Graham Turnbull, George Wisemantel who def Mark Tull, Jason Collins, Peter Jones 24-16.
Next Sunday's semi finals will be full of action with the over jubilant Jason Cassidy's kids taking on Col Hebblewhites boys and the Vic Hebblewhite bulldogs come underdogs doing battle with the Groves gang when new bowls could prove the deciding factor on the day.
Saturday bowls numbers were depleted due to a pennant rehearsal but hopefully will improve in the future.
