Club officials believe the side has started the year with a focused and dedicated group of players who want to leave their mark on the competition when it begins.
The club won the inaugural sevens grand final in 2018 but was convincingly defeated by Wallamba in the preliminary final of last year's 10-a-side competition.
But with more than 20 players eyeing off positions and a hunger to take home the trophy this year, the side could prove to be a powerhouse once again.
Insight to training has revealed the squad will be more seasoned, experienced and fitter.
Under the tutelage of coach Chris Marchant, the squad is brimming with confidence.
They hope his experience and leadership qualities will lead them to the premiership.
At the recent trial carnival in Old Bar, Charlotte Maslen, Claire Shultz, Hannah Yates and Bronte Wisely were among the top performers across all clubs.
This could be an indication the Cockies will be a force to be reckoned with this year.
As the sport continues to grow across the region, the club is hopeful women will be playing the traditional 15-a-side format before too long.
There is still hope the men's team will join them on the park in 2020.
After being unable to field a team last year due to retirements, injuries and drought, it looks great for the men.
Although numbers have been light, the men are showing plenty of interest and 17 players have already committed to support the club to get back on track.
This includes a few new faces to the club and several old boys making a return.
The main focus in 2020 will be to grow support from the community.
The club will return the favour with a range of off-field functions and home game treats for supporters.
Rugby Australia has imposed a ban on all matches, training and course until at least the first week of May.
The competition was set to get underway from April 4.
