The Gloucester region is in the belt for the heavy rainfall weather warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology with large amounts of rain expected across the weekend.

The BOM issued a warning at 4.53am this morning (Friday, February 7) that an intense coastal trough is expected to bring heavy rain and damaging winds to the Mid North Coast region over the proceeding 24 hours. This trough is expected to deepen and gradually shift southwards toward the region, increasing rainfall parts of the coast and adjacent ranges during Friday and over the weekend. There is a flash flood warning for parts of the Mid Coast region with the heaviest falls determined by the movement and strength of the coastal trough. Winds could be easterly 25 to 35 km/ with temperatures expected to reach at top of 23 degrees.
Showers are set to continue on Saturday (February 8) with cloudy skies, the chance of a thunderstorm and a very high chance of 15 to 35mm of rain. Winds easterly 25 to 35 km/h shifting west to southwesterly 15 to 25 km/h early in the morning then becoming light in the middle of the day. Temperatures are predicted to reach a top of 26 degrees and a low of 19 degrees.
More possible heavy rainfall is expected for Sunday (February 9) with cloudy skies and 25 to 60mm of rain predicted. There is the chance of a thunderstorm and light winds becoming northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h during the afternoon. Temperatures are predicted to reach a top of 25 degrees with a low of 20 degrees.
If you're heading to the Barrington Tops, there is a strong wind warning for Friday and less rainfall forecast across the weekend. Temperatures for Friday are expected to reach a top of 15 degrees. Saturday is predicted to see 8 to 25mm of rainfall with temperatures to reach a top 16 degrees with a low of 12 degrees. Sunday may see 10 to 30mm of rain with temperatures predicted to reach at top of 16 degrees and a low of 13 degrees.
