I write in response to several letters published in the Gloucester Advocate from concerned residents and community members in relation to Anglican Care's development of a new residential aged care home in Gloucester. (What's in store for the Lodge - January 28, What will happen to Kimbarra - February 11 and What if there aren't enough beds? - February 14)

In August 2015, Anglican Care was named the successful proponent of a robust and transparent tender process to accept the transfer of aged care licences from Gloucester Hospital.
A condition of the tender was that Anglican Care would construct a new, purpose-built residential aged care home for the Gloucester community, and would transfer residents from the existing Hunter New England Health facilities.
Since this time, the official process of land selection, funding applications, development applications, tenders and other regulatory issues has been finalised.
The construction of our new 50 place residential aged care home in Clement Street is progressing well and we hope to have residents moving into the facility in October/November 2020.
There are currently 39 residents living in the Hunter New England facilities who will transfer across, immediately making new places available to the broader community.
It is anticipated that the second stage of the Gloucester development, which features retirement living villas and a community centre, will follow at a later date, dependent on commercial viability. Anglican Care also anticipates being able to provide community and home care services to the Gloucester community in the future.
Our Anglican Care staff welcome the opportunity to assist you via 1800 733 553.
Our primary aim is to ensure the availability of quality aged care services and choices in the Gloucester region.
We continue to be available to listen to community concerns.
