A field of 32 bowlers played on both greens on Thursday with Bob Charman and Gary Spokes giving Nico Duynhoven and John West a lesson, winning 27-8 and taking the Jack High restaurant vouchers. George Wisemantel and Terry Davies def Peter Sansom and Don Mehieloff 30-16. Wayne Groves and Jim McIntosh settled early nerve problems def Mike Sheely and Neville Atkins 16-14. John Andrews and Luke Doyle def Tony Tersteeg and Chris Pritchard 17-13. Lu Urby and Alex Laurie had to battle hard to edge out new bowlers Steve Hurworth and Steve Kriss 22-17. Kevin Burley hitting form at the right time combined with Col Beattie to def Robert Hayes and Terry Carson 21-11. Phil Walls and Jim Henderson def Vic Hebblewhite and Andrew Henderson 27-15. Kevin Everett and Paul Sheridan def Rob Heininger and Gordon Pritchard 24-12.
Saturday, the singles championship returned with some evenly matched games going into the quarter finals. Tony Tersteeg def Gary Spokes 31-17. Waukivory warrior had his game face on to def Col Hebblewhite 31-18. Andrew Henderson returning from injury was no match for Jason Cassidy going down 31-15. Aaron Kelly def hot favourite Graham Turnbull 31-23.
Sunday was the semi finals with Jason Cassidy and John Andrews keeping the crowd on their toes playing 34 ends. Cassidy picking up three shots on the last two ends to advance to the final winning 31-30. Aaron Kelly talked his way to an early lead then hung on to def Tony Tersteeg 31-24. Next Sunday's final between Cassidy and Kelly should be worth the entrance fee with anxiety competing against vocal "good luck to both players".
The first round of the pairs championship is Saturday July 11, the draw is on the board so make sure all players check their starting times.
