This occurred at the veterans annual general meeting (AGM), which was held after golf on Tuesday. The meeting acknowledged the huge contribution Bill has made in his time as veterans' captain, not the least the running of the annual
Veterans Week of Golf, which has grown to be one of the most popular and successful tournaments for veterans in the state.
All other positions on the veterans committee were re-elected; Chris Pritchard - President, Jim Dunn -Secretary, Peter Buettel -Treasurer, Bruce Fraser -Vice Captain, David Hjorth -Catering Committee members are Tony Burnet, Ian Maggs and Ric Paff. We welcome Sally Higgins who was also elected as our newest committee member. Derek Bardwell has taken over as Captain.
The veterans played a 2 person best ball stableford competition for the Bruce and Ele Fraser trophy, this event having been washed out last week. Winners were Dale Rabbett and Steve Hurwurth with a magnificent 49 points. Bill Murray almost celebrated his retirement with a win, he combined with Bert Newman to be the runners up with 42 points. Balls went to Kev Arney and Bill Mansfield on 40, Ric Paff and Peter Wildblood on 39 and to Bob Kirkup and Phil Hawkins also on 39. Dale Rabbett had the best individual score of 43 points.
