I was disgusted by the number of cigarette butts discarded around the trees, seats and tables at the Meeting Place in Denison Street, Gloucester. The photo shows just some of the ones I picked up there today (Thursday October 8).

I have written to request MidCoast Council to provide cigarette butt disposal bins in this area to at least give smokers an alternative to throwing their butts on the ground. They could, of course, carry their own container to dispose of their butts at home but this doesn't seem to happen so there needs to be butt bins closeby to stop this toxic litter being spread around the ground and washed into our waterways let alone the uncared-for appearance it gives to visitors.
