Gloucester Golf Club is very fortunate to have sponsors throughout the year. Businesses, families and individuals dig into their pockets and generously donate prizes for our competition winners each week. Thank you one and all for doing this and keeping our fantastic little club operating the way it does.
This week, we had the Rawdon Vale lads from the foothills of the Barrington Tops donating prizes. Many thanks to Col Laurie (who has been donating to our club since about 1942), Kyran Laurie, Steve MacDonald and Peter Bignell. Great effort in providing trophies down to fifth place in each grade. Your individual form on the course wasn't too shabby either - apart from one low handicapper we won't mention by name.
In A Grade, Brian"Barney" McInnes shot the lights out and posted 42 stableford points. Barney's form has been lost in the wilderness for some time but he's back with a vengeance. Definitely the standout score on the day. Second place went to Ben Veitch who continued his great form from last week. In third position, Mark Howard with 35, followed by Steve Williams and Wayne Maddalena with 33 points each. B Grade's best was Doug Blanch with an impressive 37 points - good to see you back to your best Dougie! Runner up was Tad Parish 35, third went to Bill Murray 34 with John Herd 32 and Peter Wildblood 31 taking the last two trophies. In C Grade, Glen (Curly) Williams, who has featured many times in the report of late, took the honours with 35. Hot on his heels was young Hamish Wakefield with 34, Mark Stone 33, Kev Arney 32 and visitor G. Evans 30 took out the last three spots. We had four ladies join the comp also and they posted some very handy scores. The best of those was Elaine Murray with 40 points.
Ball Comp: Brian McInnes 42, Elaine Murray 40, Ben Veitch 39, M. Clayton 39, Kyran Laurie 38, Col Laurie 38, Peter Bignell 38, Dale Rabbett 37, Doug Blanch 37, Mark Howard 35, John Parish 35, Glen Williams 35, Hamish Wakefield 34. Great golfing Hamish - good to see you scoring so well - keep it up! Next Week is a 4-man Ambrose for the Valley Motors Trophy. Rod Summerville always puts up some super trophies so get you team of four organised.
Super Seven Results for this week: Once again the scores were red hot for the week. Winner: Mark Howland with an outlandish 21 points. Nice shooting Duck - must have been close to a par round. Graeme Marsh was desperately unlucky with 20. Balls also to David Hjorth 19, P.Patterson 18, Doug Blanch 17, Jim Dunn 17, Chris Pritchard 17, Rob Moore 17. Until next week good golfing.
