A group of five artists from the Wallamba area, known as ec0centric, found a common bond in their desire express their passion for the natural world and the environment through art.
Carmel Spark, Kate Landsberry, Ariane Bell, Susie Oldfield and Philippa Bell have spent the past 18 months working toward their first exhibition at the Gloucester Gallery, meeting regularly on their collaboration to share progress and offer input.
"It has been an exciting time of growth as a group and for our individual practices as we have worked together to create what we believe will be a diverse and exciting exhibition," Kate explained.
With the group mostly living on acreage, each is passionate about the environment.
"Our great concerns are the effects of climate change, human intervention, carelessness and ignorance that sees our valuable and irreplaceable flora and fauna threatened or facing extinction," Kate said.
"Via our art making, we seek to highlight the beauty that surrounds us and to bring greater awareness, and sense of urgency, to our community for the need to appreciate and protect what we now have in our natural world."
Hence preserving habitat is the emphasis of the exhibition.
Habitat runs from Thursday, December 31 to Sunday January 24, 2021. There's a COVID-safe staggered opening for small groups on Saturday January 4 between 2pm and 4pm.
