According to member Judy Earle, the club was meant to hold a large gala event last year in Sydney, but it was postponed due to COVID.
This year, each zone of the ogranisation planned its own slightly smaller version, with the Harrington club hosting the Zone MK01 gala on Saturday May 29.
The theme was 'All that Sparkles' with the reception hall decked out in specular fashion and all attending members dressed to match, encouraged to wear something sparkling.
"We had 15 of our members attend," Judy said. "It was a very enjoyable day. Our members like to go and catch up with the other clubs in our zone."
But the event wasn't just about the sparkle and the wonderful luncheon, it also included a few guest speakers and a bit of local entertainment, courtesy of the Harrington VIEW Club members and a bit of an information session about the students they help.
VIEW members support the education of disadvantaged Australian children by raising much needed funds for The Smith Family. Through fundraising activities and social events in local communities, members raise money that goes directly to The Smith Family's learning and mentoring programs for disadvantaged students.
Also in attendance at the big event were VIEW Clubs of Australia vice president Beryl Pike, NK01 Zone councillor Marilyn Botwood, and NK01 national councillor Judith Hemingway.
