Ladies brave wintry conditions to kick off golf championships

Wednesday was the first round of the Gloucester Women's Golf Club's championships and 16 very brave ladies played on the coldest most miserable day we have had to play in for a long time. I think that you all deserve to be winners, just for turning up.

The day was sponsored by our captain Margaret Dunn. Thank you Margaret your sponsorship it is greatly appreciated. Ev Blanch is leading the championships with 96 Gross followed by Annette Cravino and Dale Rabbett both 12 strokes behind. However there are two weeks to play but the girls have a lot to catch up to you Ev.

Cheryl Goodrich is leading division 2 with a gross score of 114 with Pam Paff two shots behind her, so it will be an interesting outcome in division 2. The event of the day was the WGNSW Medal no 4 with Ev Blanch taking out div 1 with 78 nett and Pam Paff taking the trophy in Div2 with 82 nett. Ball winners were Annette Cravino 82 nett Cheryl Goodrich 84 nett, Dale Rabbett and Julie Paterson 86 nett. NTP 4th/13th, Ev Blanch and 6th/15th, Myrelle Fraser.

Hope the weather is better for the next two rounds of the championships and good luck to you all.
