Not only have they faced hardships resulting from drought, bushfires and floods, they have had the added burden of continuing to operate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, many local businesses have not only survived these unprecedented challenges, but thrived.
Now, these business operators have the opportunity to share and showcase their successes with the return of the MidCoast Business Awards and gala dinner later this year.
The business awards gala dinner will provide an important opportunity to come together to recognise and celebrate how businesses have adapted and innovated over the past 18 months, Forster Tuncurry Business Chamber committee member, Maxine Calladine said.

On behalf of the MidCoast Business Chamber, Mrs Calladine is inviting businesses to enter this year's awards, which is now accepting entries.
Supported by the MidCoast Business Chamber, the awards accepts entries from business chambers in Forster-Tuncurry, Taree, Wingham, Harrington, Gloucester, Old Bar, Myall Lakes and Bulahdelah.
Mrs Calladine said this year's event will culminate with a gala celebration and presentation at Club Forster on Saturday, November 20.
"The awards acknowledge and honour the outstanding, and often unique, services experienced by their customers.
"Let's celebrate these achievements."

Local Recognition and Excellence Awards:
- Best start up local chamber region winners - Bulahdelah, Forster, Gloucester, Harrington, Old Bar, Taree, Tea Gardens and Wingham;
- Best start up major winner;
- People's choice local chamber region winners - Bulahdelah, Forster, Gloucester, Harrington, Old Bar, Taree, Tea Gardens and Wingham;
- People's choice major winner;
- Community service award - business or individual;
- Hall of fame/outstanding business leader.
Business Excellence Awards:
- Tourism and hospitality;
- Professional services;
