The Individual Stableford event was sponsored by Harwell Lifts who "rode with the flow" right up to the last minute in supporting the local golf at Gloucester. With play restricted to groups of twos under the exercise provisions of the state's stay-at-home rules it was not certain whether Saturday's field would be of sufficient size to warrant a sponsor right up until the last moment. Harwell Lifts stayed in there much to the delight of the entire field of 28 golfers.
The winner in A grade was Brian McInnes with 37 Stableford points. He was followed by runner up Ben Veitch, who had 36 points. Bruce Fraser's 39 points was the top score in B grade two ahead of Brian Osborne's 37 points. The standout of the day was C grade's winner, Mick Young who turned in a card showing a whopping 47 Stableford points leaving Gloucester junior Mitch Andrews in runner up spot with 39 points, a score which, on any other day would have looked very much like a winning score.
Balls in the associated ball competition were won by Mick Young 47, Bruce Fraser and Mitch Andrews 39, Brian McInnes, Brian Osborne and Paul Coote 37, Ben Veitch and Steve Macdonald 36, Kev Arney 35 followed by Mike Howard, Jamie Andrews, Gavin McDonald and Gary Peters who all scored 34 Stableford points.
Super Sevens for the week ending Friday 20 August 20 was won by Bill Murray whose 18 Stableford points was a count back ahead of the leading ball winners Phil Hawkins and Denver Webb also on 18 points; they were followed by an intrepid bunch of five participants on 17: Mark Stone, Steve Yates, Peter Buettel, Graham Hjorth and Anne Maggs.
On Saturday August 28, there will be an Individual Stableford event sponsored by the Lower North Coast District Golf Association. The following week there will be the Monthly Medal sponsored by the Arkwood Family, an Individual Stroke event with net and gross trophies in each grade as well as awarding the September Medal to the top net score across the field.
