There were some great scores over the holiday period for those Gloucester Veteran Golf Club members not straying too far from the delights of town. Maybe it was the delights of living in the area that saw larger than usual fields for most day of play.

On Tuesday December 21, that was an Individual Stroke and Putting event sponsored by Penny and David Mitchell. The winner was John Herd with a four under par net 68 well ahead of runner up Trevor Sharp 73, with additional balls won by Phil Hawkins and Dale Rabbett 74; Roy Crichton and Ken Kelly 75; and Steve Hurworth and Jim Dunn 76. Nearest-to-the-Pins were won by Dale Rabbett at the 4th and 13th holes and by Dale Rabbett and John Herd at the 6th and 15th holes; Bill Murray's 29 putts won him the putting competition on a countback.
The Individual Stableford on Tuesday December 28, was sponsored by Kay and Bill Hunter. The winner was Steve Hurworth who scored 38 points winning on a count back from runner up Steve Burns 38. Balls were won by John Herd 35, Roy Crichton and Mike Howard 34, Peter Buettel 32, and Rick Paff, Brian McInnes and Bruce Fraser 31. Nearest-to-the-Pins were won by Roy Crichton at the 4th and 13th holes, and by Ele Fraser and John herd at the 6th and 15th holes.
On Tuesday January 4, Steve Hurworth back up his win the week before with another win this time with 40 points in the Individual Stableford. Runner up was Derek Bardwell 38 on a countback from ball winner Steve Kriss 38, who was followed by Max Shephard and Trevor Sharp 37; Rick Paff and Steve Burns 35 and picking up the last balls were Bran McInnes and Colin Ware who scored 34 points. The Nearest-to-the-Pins were won by Max Shepherd at the 4th and 13th holes and by Steve Hurworth at the 6th and 15th holes
There was a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford on Tuesday January 11 to round out the holiday season of veterans golf. Mike Howard and Mark Stone teamed up to win with 43 points; close behind on 42 points in runner up spot were Peter Buettel and Phil Hawkins. Balls were won by Steve Kriss and Ken Kelly 41, and Dave Mann and Steve Burns 40. Steve and Di Burns were the day's sponsor\s. nearest-to-the-Pins were won by peter Buettel at the 4th and 13th holes just 251 cm from the hole and by Peter Wildblood at the 5th and 16th holes 464 cm away from the hole.
On Tuesday January 18, the veterans are playing an Individual Stableford sponsored by Marg and Brian McInnes and the following week, January 25, there is another Individual Stableford sponsored by Anne and John Herd.
