The Our Lady of The Rosary 2018 Debutante Ball was a traditional event with a twist.

There was a special appearance of the Ubuntu African Choir who arrived and were hosted just the day before by several local families.

They were outfitted in formal attire by a collective group and joined the customary dances of the gypsy tap and swing waltz as though they were familiar with every step.

Their presence on the evening and in the professional photographs will be a memory the children and their families will treasure for many years.

Father George was thrilled with the night and complimented the committee and debutantes for their patience, hard work and foresight for bringing this time-honoured occasion back to Taree. 

He believes that the values the participants were taught during their six to eight week training will serve them long into their adult years.

He was proud to present the debutantes and was also seen enjoying his time on the dance floor amongst the sway of white gowns and swanky bow ties.

Matron of Honour Mrs Vanessa Hogan, a former St Clares High School graduate was sentimental about her part in the ball.

She herself was presented as a debutante in the Manning in 1996 and was proud to have two of her own children part of this year’s event.

Her eldest daughter Charlotte was one of the youngest debutantes and her second daughter Addison was one of the three flower girls.

Organisers congratulate the nine St Clare’s High School students who committed to the ball and were a credit to their dance teachers (Rosie Graham, Julie Barlin and Max Lambert), school and families.

They also thank all the sponsors and supporters for making the ball such a success.
